2024-25 SEASON LIMITED ENGAGEMENTS
Join us Saturday, February 1st at 5:00 PM for a Q&A with Nicole Stott, astronaut, aquanaut, engineer, artist, and author of Back to Earth: What Life in Space Taught Me About Our Home Planet – And Our Mission to Protect It.

Nicole made history as the 10th woman to perform a spacewalk during her 104 days aboard the ISS and Space Shuttle, and the first person to use the ISS robotic arm to capture a free-flying cargo vehicle. She’s also made history in the art community, as the first astronaut to paint a watercolor in space.

We are delighted to host Urbanite audiences for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hear from a living astronaut as part of our Backstage Series. We are excited to enhance the theatregoers' experience of our current production, SPACEMAN. Hear directly from Nicole about what it takes to go beyond our atmosphere, and how her time in space continues to shape her view of life on Earth.

Meet Urbanite's Featured Artist for Season 11: Beck Lane Beck has been an artist and painter in various forms for over four decades, but in 2010, decided to dedicate themselves fully to developing intent-filled artwork, getting it in galleries, and building a base of serious collectors. As a result, Lane’s paintings can be found in collections across the US to South America to Israel to Qatar and multiple places in between.
And although, for the last 12 years, they’ve focused on producing figure and portrait work of marginalized, historically significant and forgotten people, Lane spent decades doing decorative painting and creating commercial work, illustrations, and murals for private homes and businesses around their native Cape Cod.
In spring 2024, Beck received the Halo Art Projects Fellowship Award, given to select artists by a board of philanthropists and professional artist peers. Beck also became the first individual artist to receive the Johnson/Singer Award, a privately run group of cultural enthusiasts. Both groups are dedicated to awarding recipients based not only on their needs and abilities but also on their contributions to cultural evolution and social justice work.
